I get rather frequent headaches and sometimes migraines. And they often have their origins in neck and shoulder trigger points/tension.
When a bad headache or a migraine is coming on the first thing I do is get some topical pain relief lotion and try to massage the area. Then do some gentle stretching. After this is when I start to consider the pain relief I want and if I need to go to bed or try some gentle yoga.
